Hunting Our Horticultural History in Pacific Horiculture
had this photo of a property that was planted with all sorts of trees and plants.
This is surely reminiscent of the Shinn Ranch gardens around the Big House.
However, the Shinn gardens weren't for fashion.
It was a necessity for a plant nursery.

Found with reverse Google Image that this is the Court House of San Diego County, California, erected in 1872.
